As one of Bill's supervisors in Corrections, I will always remember Bill was the kind of Christian man who was true to his relationship with his God. He would call me at the office and want to pray for me and would stop me in the hallway during a conference and ask if he could pray for me at that very moment. When I visited him a week before he passed, he reached out to my hand and prayed for me as the grief of recently losing my own father-in-law (a former MDOC Chaplain) would be expressed. Bill thoroughly enjoyed life, did not take himself too seriously and always found a way to sneak in something funny to lighten a moment. You couldn't help but bust out in laughter. He was a great chaplain who was well liked and admired by staff and offenders alike. Bill--you leave a sizeable gap and there will never be another like you. Debbie and family--we love you and carry your burden with you as best we can. Heaven only knows the reception line that Bill is probably still working through of all those to whom he exhibited Christ's love and mercy over the many years of his ministry. Bill--we won't say "goodbye" but rather, just, "We will see you a little later on the other side". May your passing be a shining light glorifying the gracious God you so faithfully served. I know it is and will continue to be.
