Betty J Brown

Dear family, Almost 20 years ago Jim took a Southwestern Bell repair technician crew from AR and MO and headed North. We worked our way up to Michigan, I was the only “girl” in the group of 22 men. Jim made sure that we were always well taken care of. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciated him as well as did the other guys. We only stayed in the best hotels. Jim would somehow have our clothes laundered everyday. We drove our company vans, Jim drove his Ford pick up with a large bar be que grill in the back. He would have dinner ready for us on many occasions when we came in, whatever we wanted. While we were in Michigan Jim would tell us to go look at Lake Superior everyday because you guys and gal probably won’t ever see it again and he was right. No matter what happened he was ALWAYS cool, calm and collected. Jim was so soft spoken that when he would call our next destination city to tell them we were coming and they saw him, they were shocked at his stature. I called him the gentle giant. He would take us to Canada to the casino. On weekends he would rent several vehicles so we could tour other areas of the state. He always spoke lovingly of his siblings and his son and daughter. On one occasion a technician in a crew from California was harassing me at breakfast. Jim had the whole crew moved from our hotel. I wish I could have had Jim as my supervisor in AR. He was the best. Whenever I think of him I have to smile. Thank you for sharing him with the world. I’ll miss him forever.
