Forever, I will cherish the memories of going to Poppy's on the weekends when I was a young child. I was blessed to share his love of Bluegrass Music. As a young teenager on Tuesday nights you would find us together practicing guitar playing, or rather him being very patient with me as I learned. I was privileged to play music with my Poppy and see him in the Bluegrass world. Our first "audience" was at Union Ridge Baptist Church's Christmas pageant. We sang Away in a Manager. Even though I struggled through this he was there right at my back boosting me up. Our first show together was in Halltown, MO. The experiences he gave me, helped to make me who I am today. My heart aches for his loss, but knowing that he is picking music for Jesus in Heaven - and that I will get to hear him belt out Blue Moon of Kentucky again one day, gives this aching heart solace.

My grandpa Dallas Hicks was a man of will, strange, and power! He was a big father figure in my life! He loved helping others. He was a very caring man! His great grandkids Katie 9, Brittney 7, and Aaliyah 2 loved him with so much joy! They had became very attached to grandpa. Grandpa you will be deeply missed but never forgotten! God definitely gained the best angel! We love you grandpa. Rest Easy!
