My most vivid memories of cousin Shawn were from when we were younger. He was certainly rambunctious to say the least!
I guess maybe my earliest memory of cuz was he was over at our house and I was in the back yard when I heard these terrible shrieks/screams! I ran to the side of the house, and there was Shawn and my brother Andy (also taken too soon by cancer) taking turns biting each other on the arm as hard as they could! They were probably 4 years old, and just exchanging bites on the arm, one chomping down and the other screaming his head off!
Lots of memories surrounding Grandma & Grandpa Gott. Christmas, Thanksgiving....for dinner Shawn would have a piece of turkey, corn, and a roll. Nothing else. Same thing every time. We both loved Grandma's pies and when she passed away we both requested one of Grandma's pie plates as a keepsake.
Shawn, Andy and I would go to Lake Taneycomo with Grandma & Grandpa with intentions of staying the week. But after two days of the three of us terrorizing Edgewater Beach in Forsyth, back to Springfield we'd come! Shawn liked the baby ducks at the lake. So much that he'd catch them and take them home. I remember going to his house one time after he had been to the lake with Grandma & Grandpa (without me and Andy) and there were two baby ducks floating around as happy as could be in his bathtub!
Shawn and Andy playing baseball together on the Picadilly Panthers, swimming pool belly-flop contests on the 4th of July, water skiing, knee-boarding...turkey, corn, and a roll. I'll miss cousin Shawn.
