Obituary for Mildred Joan Durant (Walker)
Mildred Joan (Walker ) Durant , age 84, Springfield passed away Saturday, April 21st, 2018 at Mercy Hospital Springfield.
Joan was born June 2, 1933 in New Madrid, MO to Drew and Ida Maybelle Walker. She was united in marriage to Grover McDaniel. Joan worked as a Certified Nurses Aide. She loved to fish and camp, go to flea markets, and shopping at garage sales. The thing she loved the most was spending time with her family, especially her grand-babies.
Joan is survived by her two children, Sandra Gantt and husband Phil, and Dan McDaniel and wife Julia, Hartville, MO; four grandchildren, Tracy, Shawn, David, and Carmen; nine great-grandchildren, Landon, Jonathan, Angelea, Hailey, Sam, Shayanne, Sheldon, Zadie, and Alex; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover McDaniel; her parents, Drew and Ida Walker; four brothers, Bud, Don, Jim, and Jerry; and one sister, Marie.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A celebration of Joan's life will be held Thursday, April 26th, 2018 at 10:00 am in Greenlawn Funeral Home North 3506 North National Springfield, Missouri 65803, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Joan's name to Children's International.
