Obituary for Vergene Faye Zind
Vergene Faye Salmon Siemens Zind was born on February 27, 1930 to Mary and Ralph Salmon in Hutchinson, KS. She passed on April 16, 2018.
Vergene married Abe Siemens on October 15, 1948. Abe was from Buhler, KS. They had four children – Harold and (Vickie) Siemens, Augusta, KS; Susan Siemens, Park City, KS; Sally and (Daniel) Landers, Tulsa, OK; and Julie and (Murphy) Moore, Ozark, MO. Abe passed away in 1981 in Springfield, MO. Vergene has 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Vergene married Clem Zind on January 12, 1996 in Springfield, MO. Clem’s children are Mary and Fred Reid, Steven and Cyndy Zind, Tony and J.J. Zind from Springfield, MO, and Chris and Sonya Zind of Nixa, MO. From Clem’s children, they have 8 grandchildren.
Vergene was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Salmon and sister, Dorothy Hart of Hutchinson, KS. She is also survived by a sister, Donna Ritchie of Tulsa, OK; and sister-in-law Alice Siemens of Hesston, KS.
Vergene was an active member and volunteer at University Heights Baptist Church since 1971. Vergene loved spending time with friends and family, music and dancing, playing bridge, golf, and taking care of her plants and flowers. A special thank you to Manor at Elfindale and Phoenix Hospice for their care and kindness to Vergene, Sally, and Julie. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to Harmony House, Victory Mission, or Phoenix Hospice in Springfield, MO.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Services will be Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
