Obituary for Louise Nelson

Louise  Nelson
Louise “Banfield” Nelson, a long-time resident of the Fair Grove area, died Saturday the 17th of February at Maranatha Residential Care Center with her family beside her.
Louise was born on September 25, 1928 in Bassville, Missouri, to Blon Banfield and Lucy Davis Banfield. Louise was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caregiver. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Nelson, one daughter, Marcia Nelson, her mother and father and brother, Roger Banfield. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Kepley and husband Bruce (Fair Grove), one grandson, Robert Kepley (Republic), one granddaughter, Shannan Sharp (Liberty), two great grandchildren, Marshawna Gillespie and husband Dustin (Edgerton, Kansas), and Dillon Kepley (Liberty).
Louise attended Fair Grove High School. Louise was an active member in Bass Chapel Baptist Church from birth until a decline in her health. She served as a Sunday School teacher and Director for Vacation Bible School. She loved to work with young people and watch them grow in God’s love. She served as the March of Dimes Chairman for 15 years. She was also a community volunteer and homeroom mother. She enjoyed cooking for others and always had enough food for everyone. She spent her time doing embroidery, word searches and spending time with her family. She was very active in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. She enjoyed her friends and the laughter that they brought.
“Life for me has been happy and fun filled. Also, it was so very sad and and heartbreaking. But with God’s Love and support we will make it to the start. See you in heaven.”

The family would like to thank the staff at Maranatha Manor and Integrity for their care of her in her final days.
The Greenlawn Funeral Home East has been entrusted with her arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, February 23 at 12:00 at Greenlawn East. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm.
