Obituary for Bob Hartsell

Bob Hartsell
Robert Lee “Bob” Hartsell, 82, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home on January 29, 2018. He was born July 27, 1935. He was preceded in death by his wife Rama Jean Hartsell of 58 years, his daughter Karman Rae Hartsell, his grandson Daniel Nathan Goddard, and his parents, Robert and Bonnie (King) Hartsell.
Bob is survived by his daughters and sons in law Kim and Earl Routh, Kelly and Randy Thrower; 5 grandchildren Don (Amber) Goddard, Bob (Crystal) Goddard, Stacee (Jeremy) Lees, Bruce (Erin) Miller and Dustin (Denise) Thrower; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 2 siblings Sue Greer, Jim (Linda) Hartsell, sister-in-law Sue Carroll; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
He graduated in 1953 from Morrisville High School. He served 2 years in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Whittier, AK. He married Rama Jean Sprinkle in 1956. She was the love of his life.
After selling insurance for several years, he opened Hartsell Concrete and later R and R Concrete Construction until he retired in 1991. He later worked at College of the Ozarks as a security officer where he was affectionately known as “Security Bob” by the students that he loved.
He was a faithful member of Grandview Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. He attended faithfully, and his empty seat will be noticed. Bob served in many capacities through his life in service to the Lord.
Anyone that knew Bob, knew he never met a stranger; he could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. He had a great sense of humor, and took every opportunity to tease those around him. He enjoyed southern gospel music and was an avid sports fan. He also loved hunting and fishing.
Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East Wednesday, January 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The service will be held at Greenlawn East on Thursday, February 1st at 10:00 a.m. There will be no graveside service.
Donations may be made for the sound system at Grandview Baptist Church.
