Obituary for Rev. Charles Edmond Coleman

Rev. Charles Edmond  Coleman
Rev. Edmond Coleman, age 94, of Springfield, MO, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Cox South Hospital. He was born July 3, 1923, in Las Animas, Colorado, to Cortez and Ethel (Oxford) Coleman. He was united in marriage to Elda Belle Messenger on August 12, 1948 in Enid, Oklahoma. Charles and Elda spent their life spreading God’s word, serving as missionaries in Pakistan for 60 years. Rev. Charles Edmond Coleman served in the United States Army in WW2. After his bravery of serving his country, Charles devoted his life to witnessing and spreading the word and works of God. Charles enjoyed spending his spare time gardening and collecting stamps. He truly had a servant’s heart; he was passionate about helping people of all ages. He was preceded in death by his patents, Cortez and Ethel Coleman, one sister; three brothers; his loving wife, Elda Belle Coleman, son; Dan Coleman, and grandson, Aaron Coleman. He is survived by four children; Diane Miller, Escalon, CA, Marian Coleman, Lincoln, NE, Kevin Coleman, Springfield, MO, and Clara Ann Coleman, Springfield, MO. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Michelle, Lall, Danielle Copola, Donovon Coleman, Ryan Coleman, Chelsea Row, Melissa Videion, and great-grandchildren; Bryan, Angelica, Kaylee, Lauryn, Kyler, Isabella, Owen, Aria, Jack, and a host of family from all over the world. The family would like to give a special thank you to Rubina Durrani for over sixty years of care and service to Charles and Elda and their family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hickory Ridge Baptist Church and proceeds will go to Rubina Durrani for 60 years of service, commitment and dedication to Charles and Elda Coleman. Rubina cared for the Coleman’s and the Coleman family during that time. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
