Obituary for Jack Elliot

Jack Elliot
Jack Elliot, 92 of Springfield, Missouri passed away December 15, 2017. He was born February 10, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Elizabeth Elliot.
Jack served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He spent 36 years in the Army reserves, retiring as Master Sergeant.
Jack started with KTTS in the newsroom until the changeover to Television in 1953. He was the 1st full-time staff announcer in Springfield. He hosted many early live Television shows.
Jack received numerous awards over the years from various organizations for his volunteerism.
He has a love for family, British Military, target practice, exotic cars and law enforcement. In the 1980’s he formed the Royal Colonial Light Horse Brigade which met monthly in British Uniform.
Jack is survived by his wife Monna Rae (Merrill), a son John and his wife Donna of California, a daughter, Alison and her husband Dr. Tom Legg of the lake area, grandchildren include Brittany, Taylor, Jennie, Jack and Sean. Great Grandchildren include Anne Marie, Colin and Emma.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri.
Interment with full Military Honors will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 22, 2017 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood, Springfield, Missouri with William Piston officiating.
