Obituary for Ardys M. Robbins

Ardys M.  Robbins
Ardys Maurine Robbins, 84, passed away Sunday, November 19th, 2017 in Springfield, MO. Ardys was born on August 27th, 1933 to Homer T. and Merlyn L. Wolfe in Miami, OK. She lived in and graduated from High School in Picher, Oklahoma where she enjoyed being raised around a close knit family.
Ardys earned an Associates of Arts Degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A & M in 1953, followed by a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1978 and a Masters Degree in 1982 both at Pittsburg State University.
She loved teaching and did so as a Home Economics teacher at Bluejacket High School for 20 years; in 1996-1997 she was named Teacher of the Year for Bluejacket Public Schools.
Ardys had a great compassion for people, she loved her students and her family. She was an excellent cook and a loving caregiver. She met the love of her life, Donald Kenneth Robbins, while working at BFGoodrich in Miami, OK. They were married on May 28th, 1955 and enjoyed almost 60 years together until his death on March 31, 2015. Ardys and Don settled in Miami, OK where they raised their three children, then retired to Bernice, OK to enjoy lake living and doting on their grandchildren.
Ardys was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Don, a sister, Blanche Fern (Mitzie) Huffman and a brother Homer T. (Buddy) Wolfe, Jr.
She is survived by her three children; son Rance and wife Nancy Robbins of Jay, OK., daughter Robyn and husband Brad Mitchell of Miami, OK., daughter Regina and husband Paul Williams of Springfield, MO., brother Laymon (Copper) and wife Ru Wolfe of Sedalia, MO, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 am Monday, November 27, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with interment following at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17 Chicago, IL 60601-7633
