Obituary for Sammie Dean "Sam" Fleetwood

Sammie Dean "Sam"  Fleetwood
Sammie "Sam" Dean Fleetwood, 74, Fulton, MO. passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017, after a short illness. Sammie was born in Seymour, MO. on September 14, 1943, to James and Lavon (Williams) Fleetwood. He was a Vietnam Era U.S. Navy veteran. During his time in the Navy, he proudly served as a member of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron five, he participated in the Gemini V recovery mission and was at ground zero off the coast of Cuba, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a retired real estate appraiser for the Missouri Highway Department. He was of the Southern Baptist Faith, he was an avid daily Bible reader. His happiest moments centered around his grandchildren's many events and activities. He loved watching them challenge themselves and was proud beyond belief of all of their accomplishments.
Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Jimmy Lee Fleetwood. He is survived by his wife Linda, a son and his wife, Andy and Susanne Fleetwood, eight grandchildren: Alec, Jordan, Cole, Ashlyn, Zachary, Hannah, Aubrey, and Aiden, two brothers: Dennis Fleetwood, and Bill Fleetwood and his wife Joan, two sisters: Sue Lee Cameron and Donna Redfearn and her husband Clell, he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. before services.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
