Obituary for Wilma R. Wilkerson
Wilma R. Wilkerson, 89, of Springfield passed away November 10, 2017. She was born September 19, 1928 in Crawford County, Kansas to Roy and Dorothy (Whiteside) Wilkerson and was the eldest of five children.
At an early age, Wilma started teaching in a one room schoolhouse where she actually taught 2 of her younger siblings. She then was called into the mission field where she was a Leadership Training Instructor with Child Evangelism Fellowship, Inc. (CEF) for over 60 years. Wilma traveled all over the world training teachers and spreading the ‘Good News” of the gospel to children. Throughout all of her travels her heart was especially with the children of Africa.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters Donna McClelland of Girard, KS, Maxine Vandry of Paducah, KY, Marilyn Ford of Springfield, MO and her brother Glen Wilkerson of Pittsburg, KS. She is also survived by a longtime friend and co-worker Wanda Nuhn of Springfield.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo under the care of Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, November 20, 2017 in the funeral home.
