Emmett Albert Klinkerman passed away in his sleep on October 10, 2017. He was born July 11, 1925 in Electra Texas. His mother, Emma, died at his birth. He was raised by his aunt Henrietta Kuddes Lohoefener in Higginsville Missouri. He was the last survivor of his siblings, Arnold, Vera, Delmer, Helen (Rabius), and Kenneth.
Graduating from Higginsville High School and Westminster College in Fulton, MO. he then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was employed by the University of Missouri, first as Business Manager of the Rolla campus and later of the Columbia campus. His final years were as Director of Purchasing and Real Estate in the University System. He retired after 40 years and moved to Holiday Island, Arkansas and finally to Springfield.
His favorite hobbies were golf and cards. He always enjoyed time for activities with children, family, and friends.
He was a life long member of the Lutheran Church Mo Synod. Wherever we lived he took an active part in each church. His children write:
“He was a noble man. He had a reputation for fairness and had a great respect for his fellow man. His faith in God was strong and steadfast. He exemplified kindness and gentleness to his family and all he knew.”
The family gives thanks to Mihaly Szantos for his care, visits, and invaluable hours of reading the Bible with him. Also special thanks to the staff at the Maples for the great kindness and care given to Emmett this past year.
