Obituary for Loma Alyene Collier (Baker)

Loma Alyene Collier (Baker)
Loma Alyene Collier, better known as Ma Collier, went to be with her heavenly father on September 17, 2017. She was born in her small country home east of Strafford, Missouri on July 1, 1923. Ma accepted Jesus as her savior as a young girl. She was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri for nearly sixty years. Over those years, her church friends became more like family. She loved them dearly.

Ma married the one and only love of her life Wayne Franklin Collier (Pa Collier) on July 27, 1942. They were married for fifty years when he went to be with his Lord and savior on April 27, 1993. They have been reunited just beyond the blue where together they are waiting for the rest of their family and friends to join them. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Earl Fain Baker, and two sisters, Marjorie Baker and Ponnie Jo Baker Roper.

By profession, Ma was a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She took care of many patients over the years. She had a gift and passion for caring for others. However, her family was her greatest passion. She was a devoted mother to her six children and their spouses: Gary and Donna Collier, Phillip and Carolyn Collier, Tom and Susan Collier, Ted and Karen Collier, Joyce Collier, and Janet and Larry Cooney. She was a doting grandmother to her eleven grandchildren and their spouses and ever proud of her eighteen great-grandchildren and the one due any day now.

Ma Collier was a lovely lady who loved her family and friends and was loved by all.
The family would like to send out a special thank you to Ma’s friends and the entire staff at Maranatha Village and Intrepid Hospice Care. They surrounded Ma with excellent care and great love during the last few months of her life.

Visitation will be at Green Lawn North on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at First Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm. The burial will follow the service at Mount Pisgah in Strafford, Missouri.
