Barbara Leah Kennemer Delp, 83, Springfield, MO, passed away September 7, 2017, Grandparent’s Day. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Blanton and Dolores Kennemer, husband; Jimmie M. Delp, son; James Michael Delp, sister; Norma Kelley, and sister-in-law; Gwenn Kennemer, and brother-in-law; Charles Smith. Barbara was born December 11, 1933 in Greene County, MO, the daughter of Blanton and Dolores Sawyer Kennemer. She went to school in a one room country school, 1st thru 8th grades where the same teacher taught all 8 grades. Barbara graduated from Strafford High School. Barbara worked at the Greene County Historic Courthouse, retiring after 30 years as a Switchboard Information Clerk. Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Jimmie M. Delp on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1952 at Drury Stone Chapel. To this union they had 3 children. A daughter, Vickie Salanski, Columbia, MO, son, James Michael Delp, deceased, a daughter, Karen Elaine Delp Barrett of Springfield, MO, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends. Barbara has a brother, Robert Kennemer, whom she loved dearly of Dighton, Kansas, sister-in-law, JoAnn Smith of Lee’s Summit, MO. Barbara has 5 grandchildren, and 8 grandchildren whom she loved to bake cookies for and send home with them. Barbara enjoyed being with her family, the outdoors, loved to cook, especially baking, caring, and doing for others. She loved taking long walks with her husband and enjoyed reading. Barbara was of the Church of Christ faith. Pallbearers for her service will be: Andy Barrett, Brian Leed, Devon Leed, Dylon Leed, Kris Skidmore, Austin Skidmore, Michael Salanski, and Jordan Hamling. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home in Strafford, MO or Humane Society of Springfield, MO. A special thank you to Barbara and Jimmie’s neighbors on the northside of Springfield, Cox South, Oxford Hospice, Manor Care, and Crossway Baptist Youth. Visitation will be Thursday, September 14, 2017, 2:00-3:00pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Services will begin at 3:00pm, also at Greenlawn North. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
