James Douglas Cline was born on November 26, 1938, in Pierre, South Dakota.
He was one of ten children born to Raymond and Laura Cline. He was united in marriage to Maxine Stephens on June 28, 1958, and they gave to the world a daughter and two sons. James worked for Kraft Foods in Springfield, and retired after twenty-two years.
James loved to tell stories; he never met a stranger; children of all ages were drawn to his generous soul; he worked hard—harder and longer than his peers. He had a smile for anyone who crossed his path. James was a great provider and encouraged his children and grandchildren to do the right thing, to be true to Christ, and to succeed in life. He served his Lord faithfully and loved his family above all else.
He departed this life September 4, 2017, in Springfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
James is survived by his wife Maxine Cline, three children and their spouses: Theresa and Dennis Livingston, Douglas and Vicki Cline, and Stephen and Melissa Cline.
He is also survived by six grandchildren: Clancey Livingston, Codi Cline, Morgan Cline, Schyler Cline, Hannah Cline, and James Cline. Also surviving are four great grandchildren: Taylor, Hudson, Tyler, and Brody.
Family and friends will celebrate his life at 10:00 a.m. for visitation and memorial services at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1500 S. Campbell, Springfield, Missouri.
