Obituary for Gary Warren Bass

Gary Warren  Bass
Gary W. Bass, 70 of Rogersville, MO went to his heavenly Field of Dreams
on August 8, 2017. He was born July 11, 1947 in Springfield, MO to Warren
and Mattie Mae Bass.
Gary is survived by his wife Linda; brother Ken (Rosanne) Bass of
Rogersville; nephews Andrew (Susan) Bass of Leawood, KS; Tim Broadbent
of Springfield, MO; and Grant (Shelly) Bass of St. Louis, MO; a great nephew
and two great nieces Ben Bass, Elena Bass, and Maria Mae Bass; an uncle
Bill Bass of Caufield, OH; mother-in-law Marybelle Dickison of Springfield,
MO and brother-in-law Lynn (Tawn) Dickison of Springfield; as well as many
special cousins, teammates, co-workers and friends.
Gary graduated from Central High School in 1965. He served his country
from 1966-69 as Army Supply Sargent, doing a tour in Vietnam. Upon
returning home, he began a 36 year career as a highway designer with the
Missouri Department of Transportation. After retiring from MoDOT Gary
worked for the City of Springfield in their construction office.
Gary was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing and coaching softball.
He was a devoted fan of the St. Louis/Springfield Cardinals. He loved being
around ball fields and people. He and Linda enjoyed many trips to Spring
Training in Florida and a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown,
NY. Gary was a good friend to many and always had a smile. He enjoyed
his life and the many people he met along the way. He will be greatly missed.
Service for Gary will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Central Christian Church under the care of Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions' be made to
Central Christian Church 1475 North Washington Springfield, MO 65802 where Gary was a lifelong member and a devoted worker.
