Obituary for Karen Sue "Revell" Lawson

Karen Sue Lawson, 55, passed away on July 26, 2017 at home in Springfield, MO.

Karen was born on July 4, 1962 in Parsons, Kansas to Chester and Betty Revell. Karen graduated from Labette County High School and received her BS in Business from Missouri Southern State University. After working in development and marketing for nearly 20 years, Karen purchased Roy’s Costume Shop in Joplin, MO. Karen served on the Board of Directors for the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Joplin, and volunteered for numerous local organizations.

Karen is survived by her two children: Matthew Ryan Lawson and his wife Mallory of Springfield, MO, and Megan Elizabeth Crain and her husband Stephen of Durham, NC. She is also survived by her mother Betty Revell-Schmid of Parsons, KS, her brother Robert Revell of Parsons, KS, and three sisters: Kay Alderman of Parsons, KS; Jane Gordon of Central Point, OR; and Gail Billman of Altamont, KS. She also leaves behind a grandson, Luke. Karen was loved by many, and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 4:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home South on West Battlefield in Springfield, MO. A visitation will precede the service at 3:00 pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the following organizations: Springfield Little Theater (c/o Beth Domann, 311 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, MO 65806), the Ozark National Scenic Riverways (c/o Donations, P.O. Box 490, Van Buren, MO 63965), or the American Cancer Society.
