Mavis Rose  Rose (Heard)
Mrs. Mavis Rose Rose 86, slipped gently into the arms of Jesus, Monday, July 17, 2017. She was born in Everton, Arkansas on November 26, 1930. Mavis was a homemaker, and also played piano at Baptist churches for over 75 years. Mavis touched so many lives with her beautiful music. She most recently was a member of Charity Baptist Church. In response to compliments regarding her piano playing, she would smile and say, "I'm playing for Jesus" She was also a talented seamstress, who enjoyed creating costumes and other clothing for friends and family.
Mavis is preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Nancy (O'Daniel) Heard and seven siblings, Winnie May, Dorothy Leota, Edna Isabelle, William Cecil, Velda Cleota, Inez Mary and Jessie Geneva, as well as a daughter, Melody Rose Kloppenburg. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Rose Gargiulo and five grandchildren: Maria Silvana Gargiulo, Daniela Simona Gargiulo, Sarah Hannah Kloppenburg Tom, Andrew Ross Kloppenburg and Hannah Jane Kloppenburg.

Mavis married Morris K. Rose, December 2, 1956. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2009.

Mavis asked that her quilts be displayed at the funeral instead of flowers, and that there would be no sadness at her funeral, only happiness. Regarding the casket she stated, "put a thimble on my finger, a hymnal near my head and put an Elephant in there somewhere. That way everyone will know I am a seamstress, a Christian, and a Republican."
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 21, 2017, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with visitation, one hour before from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will follow, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
