Barbara Marlene  Bednar (Vanderkooi)
Barbara Marlene Bednar, 80, Highlandville, Missouri departed this life June 30, 2017.
She was born December 7, 1936 at Muskegon, Michigan to Menno (Mike) and Dorothy V. (Rogers) Vanderkooi.
Barbara was raised by her mother Dorothy and her step father Edward Caveny.
Barbara was a wonderful lady who always thought of and put others first. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was a volunteer at Alexian Brothers Hospital in San Jose, California, volunteering in the nursery in the 1980’s and she headed up the local Fibromyalgia (FMS) Support Group in Beatrice, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step father, her beloved husband Richard D. Bednar, one son, Thomas R. Bednar and her brother, Dale Vanderkooi.
Survivors include her daughter Linda L. O’Neill and husband Michael E. of Highlandville, Missouri, three grandsons, Matthew R. O’Neill, Patrick K. O’Neill and Brandon W. Bednar, one granddaughter Samantha L. Bednar and two great grandchildren, Tyler D. and Emily R. Bednar.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, Nebraska. Burial will follow in Wymore Cemetery. A reception will follow at Valentino's in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix Hospice.
