Obituary for Curtis Doyle Voris

Curtis Doyle  Voris
Mr. Curtis D. Voris, age 76 of Bolivar, MO, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017. He was born February 10, 1941, at Halfway, MO, to Joe and Bessie (Brown) Voris. He was united in marriage to Sandra C. Stewart September 11, 1960, and to this union three daughters were born. He was saved at the age of 15 at Halfway Missionary Baptist Church. He is a member and Deacon of Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Cliquot, and the Bolivar Masonic Lodge.
When he was younger he played the piano for his parents and their quartet. He loved to sing and for many years he traveled with the gospel quartet “Crystal River Boys”. More recently he sang and played the piano weekly at the care centers here in Bolivar. He was also an avid bicyclist and rode weekly with many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter Shelley Voris.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 56 years Sandra of the home; two daughters: Carole Gray and husband Mike of Brighton, MO, and Lori Buckner and husband Lloyd of Flemington, MO; three grandchildren: Dustin Gray and wife Jessie of Brighton, MO, Mikayla Francka and husband Scott of Bolivar, MO, and Lance Buckner of Flemington, MO; an uncle Eugene Brown of Buffalo, MO; as well as many other relatives and numerous friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Pitts Chapel with Bro.’s Donnie Lane and Devin Orbin officiating. Burial will follow at Schofield Cemetery south of Halfway. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in the funeral home.
