Obituary for Hutson Vincene Nelson

Hutson Vincene Nelson
Hutson Vencene Nelson, our precious husband and father, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 27th, 2017.
Hutson was born Jan 20, 1927 in Douglas County, Missouri to John Q. and Ida Belle Nelson. He was married to the love of his life Della Ann Branam on July 18, 1944, and they were blessed with over seventy-two years together. Hutson was a Christian man who cherished God and family above all else.
Hutson served his country in World War II. He worked for Campbell 66 Express as an over the road truck driver, retiring after 40 years of service, and went on to pursue raising cattle. For many years, he and Della enjoyed traveling in their RV, the many friends they made, and places they went. Hutson was a long-standing member of Oak Grove Assembly.
Of all the things we could say about Hutson, nothing is as important as the love he showed to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He taught and instilled family values in all of us by his actions daily.
Hutson was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Sgt. Rickie Vencene Nelson, USMC; sister, Imogene Johnson; and brother, Eugene Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Della Ann; daughter, Patricia Robertson and husband Rodney; son, Randy Nelson and wife Cheryl; two brothers; Dale and Tony Nelson; one sister, Lodean Schultz; seven grandchildren; twelve great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Special thanks to Roye Lane and Connie Jensen of Compassus Hospice for their attentive care.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 31, from 6-8 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Services will be on Wednesday, February 1, at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with interment at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
