Obituary for Terry Allen Branson

Terry Branson was born on December 11, 1955 in Paris, IL to Homer Branson and Helen Rose Branson. The family moved around a lot while he was growing up, living in different location such as Branson, Missouri, Lubbock, Texas and finally landed in Springfield, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Branson of Harrisonville, Missouri, daughter Sabrina and her husband Caleb Brookshire of Hannibal, MO, mother Helen and step-father Leonard Freniere of Republic, MO and mother-in-law Barbara Wilson of Springfield, MO.

He is proceeded in death by his father Homer Branson, brother, Bob Lisenbee, sister Diane Jean Branson and father-in-law Howard Wilson.

Terry went to Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1974. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri and Juris Doctorate from Cooley Law School in Lansing Michigan.

Right after high school, Terry entered into the Marine Corp and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California. After serving four years with the Marines, he returned home to join the Springfield Police Department. After serving for years as a police officer, he went to work for the Greene County Drug Unit. During this time he also joined the Army National Guard and later the Navy Reserves. While in the Navy Reserves, he was called to active duty during the Persian Gulf War, where he was stationed in Bahrain. Terry was currently a Diversion Investigator for the Drug Enforcement Agency in the Kansas City area. He truly loved his job and his co-workers.

Terry had many hobbies beyond his passion for the military and law enforcement. He loved word working, metal work, marksmanship, fishing and Ham radio operating, just to name a few of his pastimes. Over the years he had constructed many beautiful wooden pieces from furniture to pens. He had a passion for flying that was kindled in him at a young age and very quickly earned his private pilot license. He loved spending time with his family and always enjoyed making sure memories were captured.

Services for Terry will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East 3540 East Seminole Springfield, Missouri with interment following at John’s Chapel Cemetery in Ash Grove, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday prior to the service.
