Obituary for Duane Barker

Harvey Duane Barker was born September 4, 1933 to Joy and Ruth (Ellis) Barker in Jaroso, Colorado. Duane was the youngest of 10 children; Merle, Charlotte, Lyle, Dora, Helen, Max, David, Peggy, and Thedore. After graduating from Champion Academy, Duane was drafted into the U.S Army in Fort Leonardwood. While stationed there he met Rose Marie Mooneyham while visiting Springfield. Duane and Rose married in Springfield in August of 1955. They were blessed with a daughter Cinde and a son Todd. Todd passed away in February 2000. Rose passed away in August 2001. Duane and Joy Sue Meese married in December of 2002. Duane opened Barker’s Frame & Collision in 1980. Barker’s expanded for years and moved to 1301 Saint Louis Street. After Todd’s death in 2000, Duane sold Barker’s to Don Melton, who continues to operate it today. Duane was proceeded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie Mooneyham Barker, son Todd Duane Barker, parents Joy and Ruth Barker, and his 9 brothers and sisters. Duane is survived by his wife Joy Sue Barker, a daughter Cinde (Don) Swartz; step-children, Gary, Jack, and Kirk (Pam) Manes; grandchildren Kathryn Swartz and Kirsten (Daniel) McNeally, step grandchildren Megan and Jared Manes, and great grandchildren Lara and Theron McNeally. Duane will be much mourned. Duane remains much loved and remembered. In Lieu of flowers, please contribute to the charity of your choice.
