Obituary for Virginia Mae Gettle

Virginia Mae Gettle, aged 79, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri passed away on Wednesday November 14, 2018. She was born on November 5, 1939, in Springfield, Missouri the daughter of Ernest and Geneva Mullings. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Eugene Gettle and her parents. She is survived by her three children Chuck Gettle, Jeaneanne Gettle and Steven Gettle; two daughters-in-law, Diane Gettle and JoEllen Gettle; seven grandchildren; Brandon Gettle and his wife Tia, Ryann Allen and her husband Hunter, Ryan Gettle and his wife Debby, Alex Tyler, Jacob Gettle, Ryan Tyler and Lindsey Gettle, and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Goodrich and her husband John, her brother-in-law William Walker, nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren, her Uncle Norman Sutherland and numerous cousins.

She was Mamoo to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and the bedrock of her family. She retired from Lowes where she had her work family for over twenty years. She resided in the Pleasant Hope area for her entire life except for her early adventures as a flight attendant for TransWorld Airlines where she met her husband Ed. They initially lived in the Washington DC area and then moved back to Missouri where they settled to raise their children.

She spent many hours watching grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sporting events, plays and other school activities. In her later years, she enjoyed visiting the farm, helping care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling to Atlanta to see her daughter, working in her yard and her dog Nugget. She will be missed by all who knew her.
