Gilbert Dee Scott, 69, Ozark, Mo. died Monday, October 1st, 2018 at Cox Hospital following a season of illness.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Edie Scott of Ozark MO; his son, Justin Scott and wife Michelle of Republic MO, and his daughter, Robin (Scott) Hammons and husband David of Ozark MO. He also leaves 4 grandchildren (Alexis, Jett, Abbey, Madey) and Step-mother Joyce Scott of Lowery City MO, and Brother Dean Scott and wife Laverne of Clinton MO, and twin brother Delbert Scott and wife Donna of Overland Park KS, and Carolyn (Scott) Lawrence and husband Terry of Hudson OH, and many close family members and friends.
Born and raised in Lowry City, MO the son of Donovan and Rita Scott, he was a lifelong resident in the Springfield, Mo area.
After graduating college he spent his early adult years teaching at Mt. Zion Bible School near Ava, MO. and working for the Greene Co. Courthouse before he accepted a position as Comptroller for the Fair Grove, Mo school district where he worked for 27 years before retiring.
Gilbert was a very active and hardworking man. Aside from his day to day job requirements he could be found selling tickets at ballgames, selling real estate, selling insurance, performing tax work, selling furniture and in his later years enjoyed delivering medications for a local pharmacy.
Gilbert was always very active where he attended church and was often times a silent giver who gave above and beyond to many different needs as he came across them.
The highlights in his daily life were spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren, going to garage sales, and finding great deals. Gilbert was known for his lighthearted sense of humor and generous spirit.
Gilbert’s passing will leave a void in a family that depended on him for many things and his caring and loving spirit will be his lasting legacy.
Visitation will be held at Green Lawn East Funeral Home in Springfield, Mo on October 4th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. His funeral will also be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Friday October 5th at 10:00 A.M. with a graveside service commencing at 3:00 P.M. at the Lowry City, MO Cemetery.
