Obituary for Eileen J Rodgers (Johns)
Funeral services for Eileen J. Rodgers age 85 of Springfield, Missouri formerly of Branson will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 10, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson with Rev. Mearl Laswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery.
She passed away on August 7, 2018 at James River Nursing and Rehab in Springfield, Missouri.
Eileen was born on October 22, 1932 in Bruner, Missouri the daughter of Rona B. and Hortense Swearengin Johns. She had moved from Springfield to Branson in 1977 with her husband. She was employed with the Branson Tri Lakes News as a typesetter for many years before her retirement. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Springfield. She was united in marriage to Maynard Rodgers on May 28, 1950 in Sparta, Missouri and to this union was born two children. She loved poetry, reading, fishing, and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors are her two children: Jon Rodgers (Judy) of Greenbriar, Arkansas and Julie Erwin (David) of Springfield, Missouri. One brother, Ronnie Johns of Springfield, Missouri, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Maynard Rodgers.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
