Obituary for Clovis Olen Smith

Clovis O. Smith was born on December 27, 1924 in Douglas County MO and he passed away on August 8, 2018 in Springfield, MO. Clovis served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was stationed on the Tinian Island in the South Pacific, he was photographed in front of the Enola Gay. Clovis retired from Kraft Foods and he was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Clovis was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Smith, his parents, Albert and Bessie Smith, 3 brothers, Ival, Roy and Darrel, 4 sisters, Hazel, Mary Sue, Ina Faye and Betty Lou. He is survived by 2 daughters, Janet (Smith) Morris and her husband Lynn Morris and Brenda (Smith) Nitzsche, grandchildren, Melissa Sanders, Justin Sanders and his wife Tera, Mandy Morris, Rebecca Underwood and her husband Sam, Sarah Tobin and Shane Nitzsche, 9 great-grandchildren, one sister Carol Mayfield, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Graveside services will follow in Weaver Cemetery in Ozark at 11:30 am with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or to the donor's choice.
