Obituary for Paul Jones

Paul  Jones
Paul Thomas Jones, 79, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on July 11, 2018, at home, surrounded by his family, following a recent diagnosis of leukemia.
The third child of Roy Hobson Jones and Enid Rosa (Thomas) Jones, he was born in Springfield, Mo., on January 28, 1939. He graduated from Willard High School in 1956 and attended Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University). He served in the military in the U.S. National Guard for ten years. He then worked as an assistant supervisor for the 142nd Transportation Battalion Aircraft and Maintenance Supply for the Missouri Army National Guard for seven and a half years. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service as a mail carrier after a 30-year career.
Paul was united in marriage to Rose Marie Cole on June 23, 1961, in Springfield, Mo.
He was an avid collector and muscle car enthusiast. His pride and joy were a 1964½ red Mustang and a 1970 442 canary yellow Oldsmobile, both lovingly restored by Paul.
He was predeceased by parents, Roy and Enid Jones, and one brother, Dean Jones.
Paul was survived by Rose, his wife of 57 years, as well as three sons—Scott Jones and wife, Caroline; Tim Jones and wife, Dana; and Brad Jones and wife, Nev. He is also survived by four grandchildren— Benjamin Jones, Matthew Jones, Shannon Jones, and Oliver Jones; and by his beloved dogs, Mac and Duffy. He was also survived by sisters, Rosalyn Young and Janelle Knox, and brother, Gary Jones, as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, at Greenlawn Funeral Home-North at 3506 N. National Avenue in Springfield. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, west of Willard, Missouri.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Oxford Hospice for their recent care of Paul.
