Condolences

Condolence From: Barb Sweet
Condolence: I had the priviledge of working with Darlene. She had such a kind nature while retaining the ability to do a very hard job and treat each person as an individual. Sympathies to the family.

Condolence From: Nancy Thomas
Condolence: I was lucky to work with Darlene twice during my career - first as a beginning special ed administrator back in the early '90s and finally this past year as a veteran (old) special ed administrator. Darlene was a role model for having high expectations for students and making learning meaningful and authentic. And she taught me that details matter and documentation is required. We will miss her leadership at Kirchner and Dogwood Hills Schools.

Condolence: Darlene and I were professional colleagues and friends for 37 years. We met when she began her career with State Schools for Severely Handicapped, and worked together until my retirement in 1999. We have kept in touch since then. I was deeply saddened to learn of her passing. I will always remember her kindness and compassion and her wonderful laugh. My sincere condolences to her family. Rest well, weary traveler.

Condolence: I am deeply saddened to hear of Darlene's passing. She was a wonderful person, caring about our staff and students. I really learned a lot from her, and our students loved her, and always looked forward to seeing and visiting with her when she came to Ozark Hills. She will be missed.

Condolence: Darlene has been my Area Director for almost 23 years. She was a great leader and friend. She was very patient and you could just tell that she cared about and loved her job! She was so kind and caring when I lost my husband last year, for that, I am forever grateful. She will be missed tremendously. God Bless you all as you go through this difficult time.

Condolence: Darlene was a wonderful supervisor, friend and person. She always listened to my concerns and was willing to help in any way possible. She had a heartfelt smile and loved our students and cared for our staff. She will be missed by so many. I can't even imagine having a different person as my Area Director. I was blessed to have her as my Area Director since I began in 2013. Until we meet again my friend.

Condolence: Darlene was my direct supervisor since 2015 and I cannot even say how much I appreciated her direction, guidance, support and kindness and belief in what we were doing at our school. She never waivered in her support of us. She was a boss, but also a friend in many ways. She did not let me down when I needed her, and I know we are going to be floundering without her steadiness. I am very glad I had a few short years with her as she taught me a great deal. I am glad we will see each other again in a better place!
