Obituary for Betty L. Wolfe

Betty Hope-Wolfe, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the age of 90 years young. Betty was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years William “Bill” Hope and second husband Onas Wolfe for 10 years, also one Granddaughter Michelle Hope & one Great Granddaughter Charity Haynes.
She was a lifelong resident of Springfield, having grown up when it was a small enough place that a little girl could roller skate down Glenstone Avenue. In addition to raising her family, Betty was active in church, Berrean Baptist and Calvary Baptist as well as her lodge groups Julia Rebekah Lodge, Wendell Compton Rebekah Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch’s Militant #23, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary #42 . She was also a Past Grand Matriarch of LEA, Past President of LAPM . She liked to fish and share stories of going fishing in such places as Canada and Louisiana. She had a cabin on Bull Shoals Lake for nearly 20 years, where she and her family enjoyed boating, fishing, and eating lots of fried fish, fried potatoes, and beans. Betty did not swim, but she and her husband Bill took the kids, and grand kids swimming, water-skiing, and tubing. Betty will be sadly missed by her family, but they are celebrating that she is at peace and has gone home to her Heavenly Father.
Betty is survived by her daughter Betty June Layton, daughter Billie Jean Brown and her husband David, son Butch Hope, daughter Karen Hope Downey and her husband Dick Downey, and daughter in law Wanda Hope. And 9 grand kids, 32 great grand kids, and 3 great great grand kids.
Visitation will be held at Greenlawn North at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on May 1, 2018. Funeral will be held at Greenlawn North at 1:00 PM, on May 2, 2018. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association
