Obituary for John Thomas Rue
John T. Rue, 84, of Springfield passed away on March 26, 2018. John was born November 13, 1933 in Grove Spring, Missouri to Joseph Philo and Nora (Snow) Rue.
In the early 50's, John attended and graduated from cosmetology school along with his sister Zula. He was drafted into the US Army in 1955 and was certified as a Military Police Officer serving in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. John was employed (35+ years) and retired from Dayco in Springfield, Missouri. A long time resident of Bois D'Arc, Missouri, he loved to garden and raise livestock. He and his wife Rose moved to Springfield in the mid 1980's, but he was always a country boy.
In June of 1954, John married Rose Lee Johnson in Kansas City, Missouri.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years. John is survived by their two children, son John Jeffrey Rue and wife Gaila, daughter Tammy Lea (Rue) Hardie and husband Bill Hardie; grandchildren Megan Elise Hardie and John William Hardie III.
John was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Lester and Chester Rue, three sisters Buelah Russell, Zula Melton, and Sharon Schmid, and a daughter-in-law Dawn (Rose) Rue.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 30, 2018, 1:00pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Visitation will be Thursday, March 29, 2018, 6:00-8:00pm, also at Greenlawn North.
