Obituary for Dudley Bertie Huckaby

Dudley Bertie  Huckaby
Dudley B. Huckaby, age 91 of Buffalo, formerly of Bolivar, MO, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility Buffalo, MO, with family by his side. He was born May 11, 1926, in Polk County, MO, to Bertie Elva and Inez Jean (Vincent) Huckaby. He was united in marriage to Christena Bridges October 20, 1946, and to this union three children were born.
He is a past board member of the Urbana MFA, and a Hopewell Cemetery Board member. He was saved and a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, and later moved his membership to Southside Missionary Baptist Church Bolivar.
In 1970 Dudley and John together had over 1000 head of fattening hogs, and over 300 head of cattle. He also spread lime and fertilizer for several years, and helped other farmers when needed, and they helped him. After they sold the farm in the early 1980’s and moved to Bolivar, Christena told Dudley to get a job because she was tired of him following her around the house. He became a door greeter at the Bolivar Walmart and received his 10 year plaque. He was a jokester, but loved his church, family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years Christena Huckaby; a grandson Jason Charlton; a son in-law Paul Charlton; two infant brothers; a brother in-law James Scott; a great grandchild Caleb Smith, and a cousin Janice Barham.
He is survived by three children: Beverly McCoy and her husband Van of Springfield, MO, Marilyn Charlton of Urbana, MO, and John Huckaby and his wife Linda of Marshfield, MO; seven grandchildren: Randy McCoy, Matt McCoy and wife Misty, Kayla Carrico and husband Bruce, Travis McCoy and wife Sarah, Tammy Smith and husband Roger, Kelly Earls, and Terri Swearingin; 23 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren; one sister Geraldine Scott and husband Warren Dampf of Columbia, MO; a granddaughter in-law Jenny Charlton of Urbana, MO; two sister in-laws: Aleina Waggoner of Independence, MO, and Genevieve Bridges of Independence, MO; a cousin Deral Joe Vincent and his wife Joan of Bolivar, MO; as well as many other relatives, friends, and church families.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2018, at Pitts Chapel with Bro. Floy Parrick officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery Urbana, MO. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, March 18, 2018, in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
