June 24, 1918 – December 14, 2017
Bill was born to William and Florence (Hartford) Johnson (Gardner) in Gibson City, IL. He has lived
on the west and east coasts at various times in his life including working at the Chicago Post Office
from 1954 – 1959. He spent a great deal of his life lovingly caring for his mother and brothers.
Flemington, MO, was his home for the last 50 years of his life. He enjoyed singing in his beautiful
baritone voice and reading, especially his beloved Shakespeare as well as the Bible, his constant
companion. Bill is survived by several cousins in Illinois as well as nieces and a nephew, a
grand-niece and grand-nephews in California. He will be buried next to his mother and brothers
at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, MO.
