Obituary for Wanda G. Donaldson

Wanda G.  Donaldson
Wanda G. (Atteberry) Donaldson, the daughter of Lonnie J. and Ethel E. Atteberry, was born on November 15,1928 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She passed away January 25, 2018 in Springfield, Missouri.
Wanda graduated as Valedictorian in 1947 from Hickory High School near Sulphur, Oklahoma. On May 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Gerald J. Donaldson. In 1955 Wanda and Gerald moved to Springfield, Missouri with their two oldest children. After her own family was well-established, she went back to school and graduated at the top of her class from Burge School of Nursing in 1976. She became the school nurse for the Strafford R-6 School District and retired in May of 1990 after serving fourteen years. After retirement she went into private duty and volunteered at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She helped start the Strafford Senior Housing Complex and sat on the board for several years. Wanda also helped get the Strafford Senior Center started and volunteered in fund raising activities to build a new building and keep it going. She delivered meals to shut-ins for Meals on Wheels until she was over 87 years of age.
Wanda was very active in church and ministries through the church her entire life. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Strafford, Missouri. Throughout different periods of her life, Wanda enjoyed sewing, painting, making crafts, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. More than anything else, Wanda enjoyed visiting with others and sharing her faith in Christ Jesus.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents: Lonnie J. and Ethel E. Atteberry, her husband Gerald J. Donaldson, her son Jerry L. Donaldson, brother John Atteberry and three sisters: Joy Lee, Edwinna Wittman and Albertha Spiva. Wanda leaves behind her children: Gayle Bodenhamer, Dennis Donaldson and wife Kelly, Alan Donaldson and wife Jeanne, Melissa Donaldson, and Annette Schull; thirteen grandchildren: Alissha Feeler, Andrew Bodenhamer, Desiree Donaldson, Douglas Donaldson, Dashawna Donaldson, David Donaldson, Alizabeth Donaldson, Alivia Donaldson, Alijah Donaldson, Maison Warren, Jakob Warren, Nathan George and Jessica George; eight great-grandchildren: Brady Feeler, Luke Feeler, Caleb Feeler, Ethan Bodenhamer, Lily Bodenhamer, Gwenyth George-Armstrong, Azia King, and Nolan King; one sister Brondel Coyle; numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM, followed by the burial at Danforth Cemetery.
