Obituary for Larry Warren Mitchell

Larry Warren Mitchell, 70, passed away on January 22, 2018 in his hometown of Springfield, MO.

Larry was born April 26, 1947 to Warren and Delta Mitchell. He lived in his home on the west side of Springfield for over 20 years. Larry was a proud father to Amelia Earhart (2005-2017), the black lab he rescued from a local organization. He enjoyed collecting notebooks and pens, attending Art Inspired classes, and learning to play guitar. Larry was able to travel around Springfield independently using the city bus system to visit some of his favorite places: McDonald's, Wal-Mart, and Nova Center of the Ozarks - where he enjoyed drinking exactly 4 cups of coffee with a sip of ice water in between each cup.

Throughout his life, Larry developed many long-lasting, meaningful relationships with individuals that supported his independent lifestyle. Sandy, Ashley, Stephanie, Aubrey, Pat, and Jessica are a few of the special people that Larry relied on for support and companionship; along with the many city workers he encountered through his daily travels--especially his bus drivers. Larry's long-term goal was to "live independent and on (my) own." He was able to do this for the remainder of his years with the support of these individuals and many other friends along the way.
