Obituary for June Hurst (VanDover)

June Hurst, wife of former Asia Pacific regional director Wes Hurst, passed away on January 22, 2018 at 12:00 AM. She was 95.

June began her missionary service with her family in Tanzania, East Africa, in 1953. During six years of ministry there, she worked with Wes to establish a Bible school in Mbeya and organize the Tanzania Assemblies of God. In 1960 the Hursts returned to the United States where Wes served as promotions secretary for AGWM.

When Wes was elected Asia Pacific regional director in 1970, June often traveled with him in ministry. She was a frequent speaker at district meetings, family and college conferences, along with women’s conventions on topics related to Christian growth, marriage and families. She retired from missionary service following Wes’ death in 1987, but she continued to promote missions as a speaker, teacher and intercessor.

In addition to her husband, June was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Mitchell. She is survived by two sons: Randy, who serves as AGWM Advancement director, and Jhan, a missionary to Pacific Oceania.
