Georgia K. Latham
Georgia k. Latham, age 91, of Springfield went to be with the Lord at 3:33pm, January 18, 2018 at Mercy Hospital. Georgia was blessed to live in her home in Springfield and be independent until her passing.
Georgia was born to Jerry and Edna (Presnell) McCrum on June 28, 1926 in Springfield, she was a tomboy when she was young, and always enjoyed being outside with her dad. She was united in marriage to Eugene (Gene) Latham and moved with him to the Willard community. Georgia had many great friends and neighbors who enjoyed getting together for weekly card games and music parties. Gene and Georgia celebrated 58 years of marriage, and she devoted herself to taking care of him and making sure he could stay on the farm, where he was happy, until his passing. Georgia was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church and enjoyed her Sunday School class very much. She worked at Frisco Laundry, Calverts Manufacturing, Blacks, and Litton Ind, from where she retired. Georgia enjoyed fishing, camping, and sewing until later in life, she stayed busy reading, doing word search puzzles and watching TV. She will always be remembered for her positive attitude, despite her failing health she pushed herself in her daily activity. Georgia enjoyed family gatherings and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Carolyn Lindsey and husband Paul; two grandsons, Joe Lindsey and wife Sherry and Jeff Lindsey and wife Heather; great grandchildren, Jordan Lindsey, Jackson Lindsey, and Haydan Lindsey; a very special sister-in-law, Edna Soares, Stockton, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Georgia was preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene (Gene) Latham; a son, Robert who passed away at the age of 19; her parents, Jerry and Edna McCrum; and a sister, Helen Rost.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 25th, 2018 at 10:00 am in Robberson Prairie Cemetery.
