Obituary for Michael Eugene Lutz

Michael Eugene Lutz was born June 25, 1967 in Springfield, Missouri and slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus at 5:55 AM on January 17, 2018.
Michael was an awesome man. He had developed aspiration pneumonia in February 2017 and entered hospice care in May 2017. However, this diagnosis did not stop him from living his life the way he wanted. He continued to be on the go – going for his loved car rides, eating Wendy’s baked potatoes and McDonald’s cheeseburgers, reading his magazines, coloring, looking at his photo books, scribbling his “secret” notes and above all drinking his coffee!
Michael did not know a stranger – everyone became his friend and he acquired many friends throughout his 50 years with us.
He now joins in Heaven his grandma, Virginia, whom he loved so much. They are together now and Grandma has her “Michael” with her. Also preceding him was his grandfather, Melvin, and a very favorite staff member, Arlene, who used to take him on those crazy go cart rides!
He is survived by his mama and dad, Pam and Roy Sweeten; his sisters, Mary, Kim, Jenni, Shannon and Lacey; and his brother, Mark. He loved his nieces and nephews, Amber, Dakota, Dylan, Austin, Nicholas, Matthew and Weston and loved to be with all of them on visits home. He also loved his special friend and teacher, Jackie.
Michael was able to live in his own home, supported by his amazing Easy Living ISL family – Lisa, Megan, Rebecca, Kyler, Elliott, Ross, Kim, Zelic, Sharon, Caitlyn, Cort, Emily, Blake, Brittany, Annie, Noah, Keely, Chris, Gabby, Kayla, Kenzie, Tritny, Alia, Deserae, Tiara and Marissa. They are the reasons he had such an amazing, fun filled life and we are forever in their debt and praise them for their loving care and friendship.
Michael loved so many things and was always ready for an adventure – as long as he was going somewhere he was happy. His motto in life was “Okay… but COFFEE FIRST!”
Visitation for Michael will be Friday, January 19, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Both visitation and service will be at Greenlawn North.
