Obituary for Mary Jane Taber

Today we say goodbye to a Heavenly Angel who has lived a life for God. From a young age she lived to serve others as she was a full-time caregiver for her ill mother. Mary married her lifelong love Lewis in 1954. She and Lewis had two sons, Roney in 1957, and Harold in 1961. Her life of serving never wavered as she spent 20+ years of service for Springfield Public Schools serving children with a hot meal and a smile. Her love for children only grew after retiring from the school and the loss of her youngest son Harold in 1981. Her loving and supportive husband could tell that her life of service and love for children was far from over and pushed her to start an in home daycare. Many of the children she took care of are here today among you all, and know how much of an amazing woman Mary truly was. But, they are not alone, as you all know the dedication Mary showed to her Heavenly Father. Her life of service to others is a true showing of how marvelous and caring of an individual Mary was. She leaves a trail of lives impacted and a life lived for God. She will forever be missed and loved by all. She is survived by her oldest son, Roney Taber and her only grand-daughter, Savanna.
Visitation for Mary will be from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Services will be Friday January 19, 2018 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Maple Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sunset Church of Christ.
