Obituary for Patsy T Ellenberger

Patsy Vivian (Turner) Ellenberger was born on January 31,1933, at Boone County Hospital in Columbia, MO. She departed this world on January 9, 2018, while residing at James River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield. MO, after enduring a long struggle with an Alzheimer type of dementia.

Patsy was the first child born in the marriage of William Loyd Turner Sr. and Rozella (Jones) Turner. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior while in grade school, and she was baptized at First Christian Church (Disciples) in Columbia, MO.

In the spring of 1951, she graduated from Hickman High School as the salutatorian of her class. She enrolled that fall at the University of Missouri in what is now the Sinclair School of Nursing. After graduation in 1956, she was one of the first group of nurses to staff the new University of Missouri Medical Center. After working at the Medical Center, she worked as a nurse in Dr. Horace Allen's ophthalmology practice in Columbia.

On February 17, 1962, she was united in marriage to Lewis Wilbur Ellenberger
at First Christian Church in Columbia. MO. Of this marriage, one son was born, Wayne Ellenberger.

During her married life, her occupation was that of a homemaker, but she also found time to volunteer and hold leadership positions in the Springfield-Greene County Friends of the Library. She was also an active member in Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF) groups in three different Christian Churches in the Springfield area.

Her passing leaves behind her husband of the home, one son, Wayne (Dianne) Ellenberger, and grandsons Kyle Ellenberger and Joshua Ellenberger, all of Austin TX.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, from 6 to 8 PM at Greenlawn South Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 17, at 11:30 AM Nixa Christian Church, with Rev. George Latimer officiating. Burial will be held at 1 PM on the 17th at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nixa Christian Church.
