Obituary for Donald L. McCurry

Donald L.  McCurry
Donald Lee McCurry, 79 of Springfield, Missouri passed away in his home December 29, 2017 after a year long illness with pancreatic cancer.
Don was born January 25, 1938 in Fair Grove, Missouri.
He was the son of Floyd J. and Nora (Gard) McCurry.
He graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1956.
His classmates of ’56 meant a lot to him and he still remained good friends with them all.
After High School, he was in Army Reserves and then worked at Royal McBee for 2 years.
In 1959 he married his wife Pat and they had 58 wonderful years together. They have two daughters, Vicki Lee and Debbie Lynn.
Don was a very loving and devoted husband and father. His girls absolutely adored their Daddy and spent time with him nearly every day.
In 1963 he and Pat opened McCurry Motor Sales. They were in business for over 50 years. They had so many customers that became really good friends.
One passion of Don’s was buying and restoring Classic Cars. He continued to do so until his illness.
He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and sister-in-laws, Glenn and Retha McCurry, Dolan and Ruth McCurry, both of Springfield and Lucille McCurry of Buffalo.
He is survived by his loving wife Pat, his two daughters Vicki and Debbie, one granddaughter Angie Bradley, 3 great grandchildren, Madison Castleberry and Kiera and Chase Bradley all of Springfield, one brother Elwin D. McCurry of Buffalo, his in-laws, Bill and Shirley Lackey of Springfield, Dan and Glenda Crawford and Bob Woods of Buffalo, Jim and Pat Woods of Overland Park, Kansas.
He was blessed with so many special nieces and nephews and an abundance of good friends. He treasured them all. Anyone who knew Don, knew he was a good man and a man of his word. He will be deeply missed.
Services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri.
Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 PM until service time.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church Daycare.
