Obituary for James Larry "Larry" Inglis

James Larry "Larry" Inglis
James Larry Inglis was called home to heaven on December 21, 2017. Larry was born in Perryville, MO, the son of James W. and Zula M. (Walker) Inglis. His family later moved back to their farm at Polk, MO where he attended grade school at Inglis Country School. He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1955.
Larry was saved at Sentinel Missionary Baptist Church in October 1948. He joined the church and was baptized that same month.
Larry attended Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, MO, graduating in 1957. He continued his education by transferring to the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, Rolla, MO, majoring in chemical engineering and graduating in 1960. He went on to complete a Master’s Degree in chemical engineering in 1962.
In July 1959 he met the love of his life, Willa Maye Pippins, at a revival at Sentinel Missionary Baptist Church. They were united in marriage on December 18, 1960. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in one of their favorite cities, Panama City Beach, Florida. Larry and Willa had a marriage filled with faith, love, respect, and appreciation for each other. They bestowed those values to their two daughters, Maria Marchele (Ernie) Iiams and Rebecca Lynn Inglis. They also had one very special granddaughter, Katherin Marie Iiams.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Kenton Ronald (2012).
Larry loved his family, learning, traveling, and most importantly his God and his faith. He got enormous joy taking Katie to all kinds of music shows and museums (especially Elvis). Katie loved her adventures with Papa and Nana. He was a lifelong learner and traveled to many places which gave him opportunity to learn new things. Larry and Willa both loved to travel. They especially liked to go to Maria’s and Becky’s homes. Each visit usually had some new adventure or project. He enjoyed attending church and revivals throughout the country, looking up the nearest old time Missionary Baptist Church making efforts to attend. One of his greatest pleasures was traveling and helping Bro. Rick Jones in his missionary efforts.
While Larry will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ, we rejoice in the fact that he is now with his Heavenly Father and loved ones waiting over there.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Sentinel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
