Loris V. “Vi” Graham, age 81, of Springfield, MO, passed away December 6, 2017 following a two-year battle with cancer with her family by her side.
Vi was born on June 10, 1936, in Springfield to L.G. “Jack” Moore and Grace Stowe Moore.
She attended Study Elementary and Junior High and graduated from Central Senior High School in 1955.
She was a long-time member of the Central Senior High School Class Reunion Committee and enjoyed being with longtime friends and classmates.
After graduation she sold shoes and then worked for Zale’s Jewelry. She them began her career in banking at Union National Bank as a bookkeeper and teller, a work she truly enjoyed. Over the years, she worked for a number of different local banks and always found getting to know her customers a real delight.
On July 10, 1960, she married Jerry F. Graham at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Springfield. In July of 2017, they celebrated 57 years of a wonderful marriage.
She was a current member of St. John’s Chapel UCC.
Hobbies and interests were many, being a gifted seamstress, garage sale fanatic and refinisher of various furniture pieces. She loved the process of sanding away the old and staining to look brand new. Over the years she gifted many better than new pieces to family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Graham, of the home, two sons, Stephen and wife Lori, their children Jordan and Andrew, and son Kevin and his children, Kyle and Kinsley, and Kevin’s friend, Amy Baker.
She is also survived by her best friend and sister, Kay Brenn and husband Larry, and one cousin Hattie Spencer Penland.
In keeping with Vi’s wishes there will be a simple graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
Because of Vi’s love for animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one of her favorite charities, Care Animal Rescue at 1428 W. Sunshine St. or the American Cancer Society.
