Lawanda "Wanda" Lavon  Piper (Bullington)
Mrs. Wanda Piper, age 89 of Bolivar, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, in her daughters home. She was born April 8, 1928, at Weaubleau, MO, to James Earl and Ura (Durnell) Bullington. She was united in marriage to Roger Efton Piper December 24, 1945, and to this union three children were born.
She was saved as a young girl at Durnell Chapel and joined that church. After marrying Roger she moved her membership to CenterPoint Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Goodson Missionary Baptist Church in the 1970’s, and later to Southside Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her death. It was always important to Wanda that her children, grandchildren, and the rest of her family were saved.
She was also a member of the Bolivar Garden Club, and the Bolivar Bowling League. Wanda loved to garden, and cook big meals for her family, as well as friends and neighbors.
Throughout Wanda’s life she raised 100’s of chicken’s, and turkeys. She drove a school bus for Bolivar over 19 years. She was a hard worker, milking cows, took care of calves, drove a tractor in the field, and whatever else needed to be done.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years Roger Piper; a son in-law James Lucas Hink; three brothers: Gerald, Bransford, and Travis Bullington; and a brother in-law Phil Casey.
Wanda is survived by her three children: Karon Hink of Kansas City, MO, Sharon Nickle and husband Tom of Bolivar, MO, and Efton Piper and his wife Janice of Republic, MO; six grandchildren: Jimmy Hink, Danny Hink, Craig Breesawitz, Alisha Norman, Jennifer Kobe, Hannah Piper; 12 great grandchildren; a sister Carolyn Casey of Kansas City, MO; two sister in-laws: Ramona Bullington of Marshall, MO, and Helen Bullington of Rockville, MD; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Pitts Chapel with Bro.’s Mike Bruce and Gayland Lightfoot officiating. Burial will follow at Flemington Cemetery Flemington, MO. Music will be provided by Lisa, Addie, and Brett Jarvis, and the Southside Missionary Baptist Church Choir. Visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
