Obituary for Floyd Lavern Farmer

Floyd Lavern  Farmer
Floyd Lavern Farmer died on November 18, 2017, at CMH Care Facility after a short illness. Floyd was born on October 23, 1927, in Halfway, Missouri, to Cora and Gentry Farmer. He attended Halfway Schools graduating in 1945. After graduation he joined the Army and was stationed in Japan. In 1947 he returned home and married Emma Lou Rodgers on April 20, 1947. To this union one daughter was born, Rita Faye, on August 16, 1950.
Floyd farmed his entire life. He often said he was a farmer by name and by trade. He also worked for a number of years at the garment factory in Bolivar. After the garment factory closed, he worked for Halfway Schools in the maintenance department and also as a bus driver. After Emma Lou passed away in 1996, Floyd became an avid crappie fisherman. He was saved in the fall of 1998.
Floyd is survived by his daughter, Rita Legan and husband Kyle, grandson Mark Legan and wife Angela, granddaughter Amber Sergent and husband Wayne, great grandson Dillon Legan and wife Rachel, great grandson Drew Legan and wife Macy, great grandson Luke Sergent and great granddaughter Emily Sergent, and great great granddaughters Lucy and Emma Legan. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Arthur; a sister in-law Lois Rodgers; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 5-7 P.M. at Pitts Chapel. Funeral services are Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 10:00 A.M., with Bro.’s Jerry Crain and Jackie Brakebill officiating. Burial will follow at Payne Cemetery Polk, MO.
