Obituary for Sue Beth "Betty"Trantham

Sue Beth "Betty"Trantham
Sue Beth "Betty" Trantham, 89, passed away in her home from natural causes on the morning of Saturday, November 18.
Sue was born on February 27,1928 in Springfield, Mo to Jess and Lilly Holland. She was preceded in death by her brother Lee Holland, her parents, her high school sweetheart and husband of 32 years Robert D. Lewis (1978), and her husband of 19 years Robert J. Trantham (2008).
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Lewis) Brown and her husband Clarke, her nephews Jim, Rick, and Randy Holland, and a granddaughter by marriage Jana Atkinson.
Sue worked at MSU for 10 years as an assistant for the President of the college where she organized fundraising functions and helped with personal assistance for the family.
Sue was enthusiastic about life, enjoyed painting with oils, was an excellent seamstress, and loved working in her gardens. She was excellent at fabricating or fixing almost anything if she had the needle and thread or tape and wire, depending on the project.
Sue was always there to help family members if they had an illness or hospital stay and was very generous with her time and resources when it came to helping others.
She will certainly be remembered for her cooking, especially her coconut cream pies which she said started several “tussles” at Sunday school functions.
She loved crocheting, collecting jewelry, art, and anything that had angels. Sue was a member of South Haven Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She is in her eternal home, pain free and very happy to be with her friends and loved ones who have gone before her.
She was greatly loved by her family, her loss leaves an empty chair at the table which will never be filled. Sue will be missed.
Services will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, November 24, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with visitation from 11:00 to 12:00 prior to the service. Interment will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.
