Obituary for Jackie "Jack" Ott

Jackie "Jack" Ott
Jackie AJ Ott, 77, of Ozark, died November 11, 2017 at Mercy Hospital after battling a respiratory infection. His last days were spent surrounded by his family and friends. Jack was born April 20, 1940 in Springfield, Missouri to Jack and Gusta Ott.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgia Hutchins Ott; his son Curtis Ott; his daughter Kimber Ott; granddaughter Brittany Ott; granddaughter Alisha Kean, her husband Guy Kean, and their children Grayson, Georgia, and Ronin Kean; granddaughter Cayman Ott; sister Linda Staples; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. He is proceeded in death by his mother Gusta, two of his grandchildren, Jacqueline Capps and Kody Dunn, and
brothers in law, Jim Hutchins and Leon Hutchins.

Jack graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri then joined the Marines. After his service, he continued his education at Drury College where he received his Bachelor and Masters Degrees. He spent his life in service to his community. First as a Marine, then a Fireman with Springfield Fire Department, then Missouri State Driver Examiner, and finally retired from Probation and Parole. He also spent his younger years as a Mighty Might Coach, then as a high school football referee. Jack and his wife Georgia owned Pizza Inn on North Glenstone for years. Jack could be found delivering pizza and doing the dishes, but his favorite part was socializing with the customers.

He was loved and admired by many for his good humor, love of his family and his all around caring nature. Jack would be the first one to help a friend or a stranger in need. His biggest joy in life was his granddaughters. He would frequently be seen at all of their events and was a mainstay at Cox Pediatrics with his granddaughter Ryan. He was a strong supporter of his Alma Mater Drury College, now known as Drury University. He especially enjoyed his Lady Panthers games with his daughter Kimber and granddaughter Ryan, but also was a supporter of the Lady Bears.

Jack had a passion for ultralights and planes. Jack enjoyed flying Ultralights with his friend Dave Caldwell. His passion was stirred by his Uncle Collie, the man who taught him he could fly. Even after surviving an Ultralight crash, he continued to get his Private Pilot License.

His family enjoyed many years of vacationing on the ski slopes. He taught each one of his children and grandchildren how to ski. He also loved watching his Sunday Football with his son Curtis. His favorite vacation was attending Green Bay Packers games and visiting the home of his Aunt Juanita. Jack and his wife Georgia lived a life with family full of love and adventure.
