Obituary for Creig M. Lobdell M.D. Ph.D.

Creig M.  Lobdell  M.D.  Ph.D.
Dr. Creig M. Lobdell entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior November 8, 2017.
Creig was born August 2,1951 to Milton and Loraine Lobdell of Lexington, NB. He graduated from Lexington High School in the National Honor Society and lettered in football. He loved University of Nebraska’s Corn Husker football.
Creig graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. in 1973 with a B.A. in Bible, 1976 with a M.A. in Bible, and 1981 with a Doctor of Philosophy in Old Testament Interpretation. He wrote his dissertation on Ecclesiastes. He continued his studies in science at the University of Nebraska, in medicine at Mayo Clinic Medical School in Rochester, MN and in residency at Mayo Clinic. He received his M.D. in 1987, and in 1991 he finished residency in Anesthesiology. He moved to Springfield, MO, practicing medicine at Mercy Hospital for twenty years. He met his wife Karen at Bob Jones University in his freshman year history class, and they married in 1973, enjoying 44 years together, and 3 wonderful children, Jeremy, Joshua, and Rebecca.
Creig loved the Lord with all his heart. At the age of 8 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at Maranatha Bible Camp in Nebraska. He continued his faithful walk with his Lord, teaching, preaching, being a youth pastor for eight years through medical school, teaching overseas medicine, and doing worldwide medical mission trips.
Creig’s life was that of an ordinary man blessed by God to do the extraordinary. He was a good man with a gentle, kind spirit. He was often called “A Big Teddy Bear,” a “Gentle Giant,” and “Big Red.”
Creig was preceded in death by his father, Milton Lobdell. He is survived by his mother, Loraine Lobdell; wife, Karen Lobdell; sister, April Kracht; children, Jeremy Lobdell and wife Robyn, Joshua Lobdell and wife Leslie, and Rebecca Fitzpatrick and husband Seth; and ten grandchildren.
Creig’s generosity in his life continued in his death by the gift of donating his body for medical research at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Lobdell was much loved and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
A celebration service of his life will be held at High Street Baptist Church, Springfield, MO, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 am, greeting of the family will begin at 9:30 am.
In keeping with his heart for missions, memorial gifts to honor his life can be given to High Street Baptist Church Missions or Samaritans Purse World Medical Missions.
